At long last, the VA has agreed to provide emergency VA mental health treatment for veterans with Other Than Honorable (OTH) discharges. However, this treatment is limited to mental health conditions that are already service-connected or are believed by the VA to be service-connected at the time of the mental health crisis. For more details please see this fact sheet. If you are a veteran seeking these services, it is a good idea to take the fact sheet with you to ensure you know your rights when seeking care under this new directive by VA Secretary Shulkin.
